Markets in Brittany

In Brittany, market day means fête day and there is not a town or village that does not hold its own unique type of market.  It is worth taking time to explore the markets of Brittany, with their varied seasonal sights, smells and sounds.  Discover the much-revered "saucisses galette" (type of Breton crépe) competing for your favour with the Roscoff "audouille fumee" (smoked chitterling sausage), admire fresh oysters displayed alongside coquilles Saint Jacques (scallops) and select from the best of the fresh quality produce on sale direct from the growers and fishermen.

Supermarkets

In the village of Languidic, we have a large Intermarché which stocks everything you need for day to day shopping, including butcher and charcuterie counters, fresh fruit and vegetables, fresh fish and even clothes.  It opens from 9.00 am (closed for lunch between 12.30 and 2.30 except Fridays and Saturdays) and closes in the evening at 6.30 and later at weekends.  Within 20 minutes we have "out of town" shopping in Lanester, where you will  find a huge selection of all types of shops including a huge hypermarket "Géant"

Other Shops in our village

In the village we have two boulangeries, an Italian Restaurant, French Restaurant, Creperie, pizza take-away, a fishmongers, charcuterie, two pharmacies, three banks, a post office, two bar-Tabacs, three other bars, and a couple of interesting churches if you fancy having a look around them.  There are also four doctor's surgeries, including some that speak excellent English and two dental surgeries.  There are also smaller outlying villages which also have restaurants and shops. Laundrette who also do service washing and ironing.

Most of the shops in this area are closed on Sundays, with the exception of the boulangeries who take it in turn to open from early morning to noon.  There is also a small supermarket in the town which opens on Sunday mornings, but it is a bit more expensive than the larger shops. There is a small Intermarché which is open on Sunday mornings, in a village about 15 minute's drive away.
